Licenses

Premium OS licenses billed by the hour on top of the VM.

Licensing Fee for premium operating systems

A separate charge for the operating system license on VMs running a premium image. That means RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu Pro, Windows Server, or SQL Server. It is billed by the hour on top of the compute charge, mostly scales with instance size, and can quietly exceed the compute cost on large instances.

Billed: Hourly, on top of the instance charge. Depending on the OS it scales per vCPU or core, or is a flat rate that steps with instance size.
