Cloud Invoice Reconciler
Upload one month of your billing export, type the invoice total, and see what explains any difference.
Before you start: what to have readyShow
- One invoice month of your billing export: an AWS Cost and Usage Report, a Google Cloud billing export, or a FOCUS file. Filter it by the invoice month, not by usage dates.
- The total from the invoice: the PDF, or the Bills page in the AWS or Google Cloud console.
- An export taken after the month closed. AWS and Google Cloud finalize a month in the first days of the next one.
Or drop it here: an AWS Cost and Usage Report, a Google Cloud billing export or a FOCUS file, as .csv or .csv.gz. A month in several files? Choose them all.
Your file is read in this browser tab. It is sent only if you choose to share it for a review.

About this reconciler
Finance closes the month on the invoice; engineering and FinOps work from the billing export. When the two disagree, nobody trusts either, and the first hour of every month-end goes on finding out why.
The causes are few and well known: Marketplace and upfront purchases invoiced separately, tax on its own invoice, an export taken too early, a file that holds two billing periods, or an amortized figure set against an invoice that is never amortized. This tool walks the export from usage to the billed total and tests each of those against the invoice total you type, so the answer is a line in the file rather than a guess.
Questions
Why does my AWS invoice not match Cost Explorer or the Cost and Usage Report?
Usually for one of five reasons. AWS Marketplace and upfront purchases come on their own invoices. Tax may be invoiced separately. The export was taken before AWS finalized the month. The comparison uses the amortized view, which spreads commitment fees, while an invoice never does. Or the export is filtered by usage date, while an invoice covers a billing period. This tool checks each one against your file.
Why does my Google Cloud invoice not match the billing export?
Google Cloud bills late-reported usage in the invoice month it is processed, so the export has to be filtered by invoice.month, not by usage date. The invoice total is cost plus credits, with tax as its own lines. The BigQuery query on this page does all three, and a small rounding line is normal.
What is the difference between billed, unblended and amortized cost?
Billed or unblended cost is what the invoice charges: a Savings Plan fee or an upfront reservation fee lands in the month it is billed. Amortized cost spreads those fees over the usage they cover, which is better for showback but never matches an invoice. This tool reconciles billed cost, and lists the amortized total separately when the export has the columns for it.
Which file should I load?
One invoice month. For AWS, the Athena query on this page returns a billing period summed by invoice, line item type and day, or load the raw CUR 2.0 files for the month. For Google Cloud, the BigQuery query filtered by invoice month. Any cloud can also use a FOCUS export, CSV or gzipped CSV.
How close counts as a match?
Within a dollar, or within 0.01% of a large invoice, because an export sums many lines that the invoice rounds one by one. A bigger gap is shown as not explained, with the checks that usually find it.
Is my billing file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read in your browser tab and nothing in it is sent unless you choose "Share for a review". Usage statistics record that a file was loaded, its detected type and a size band, never its name or contents. The /privacy page lists every field.
