Object storage
Standard, Nearline, Coldline, and Archive.
Standard Storage
On-demandThe default Cloud Storage class: billed per gigabyte-month, with no retrieval fee and no minimum storage duration. It is the right class for data read often and the wrong one for data nobody has opened in a year, which is what most buckets eventually contain.
Billed: Per gibibyte-month stored, priced by location. Multi-region and dual-region cost more than single region.
Nearline, Coldline and Archive Storage
On-demandThe colder storage classes trade a much lower per-gigabyte rate for two things you have to plan around: a minimum storage duration (30, 90, and 365 days) and a retrieval fee. Move data that is genuinely cold and they are dramatically cheaper; move data you still read and they are more expensive than Standard.
Billed: Per gibibyte-month at progressively lower rates, each with a minimum storage duration and a per-gibibyte retrieval fee.
