Total Migration Cost Savings
Definition
Measure of cost efficiency gains by moving workloads to the cloud by comparing existing infrastructure costs to the cost on targeted cloud platform. In addition to the infrastructure costs, shared costs for maintaining operations should be considered to calculate/understand overall efficiency gains with the move to the target platform.
Formula, as published
[(Current Cost on existing Infra (DC / Private Cloud / existing public CSP) - Effective Cost on the target platform (new public cloud CSP)] + [Shared Effective Costs associated with existing tools & people effort required to manage current infrastructure - Shared effective costs associated with target state tools & people effort required to manage target architecture]
