Anomaly Detection Rate
Definition
Measures the frequency and cost impact of anomalies in AI spending, such as sudden cost spikes or unexpected usage patterns. This KPI enables proactive identification and mitigation of runaway costs.
Formula, as published
Total Cost of Anomaly Spikes / Total AI Spend = Anomaly Cost % where (adjust for your needs): Green (< 2%): Healthy. Normal fluctuations. Yellow (2-7%): Warning. Minor anomaly trend Red (> 7%): Critical. You have a “runaway” costs.

Warning: a minor anomaly trend, by the KPI library’s own bands.
How to measure it
The share of AI spend that came from anomaly spikes, with the library’s own bands: under 2% healthy, 2% to 7% a warning, over 7% critical. The calculator shows the band.
Agents make this KPI move fast: one runaway retry loop can be a large share of a month in a day.
